Thoughts On Slowing Down

Slowing down is not a sign of weakness or failure. It is not an offset of being un-productive. In fact it seems that the most successful people on the planet have mastered the art of doing less and accomplishing more. How do they do it? How do they find that work/life balance? I sat with this question in meditation this week and this is the answer that came to me…

When your life is filled with urgency notice that you completely cut off the creativity energy that you originated from. Whether you realize it or not, all form in the physical world including yourself originated from a source of non-doing, “no-thing”. You came from a natural place of being. Being-ness is your origin. When you practice slowing down to the point that anxiety, panic, urgency and stress are no longer rushing you into action you will experience a natural, peaceful invitation to move forward in your life with deeper awareness and clarity. Most of us are afraid that if we slow down we will miss out on all that life has to offer us. In fact, the exact opposite is true. When we rush through life from one event to the next without mindfully noticing, we miss out on all the gifts that life has to naturally offer us.

Notice that when you consciously slow down enough to align and hear your inner spirit speaking, you no longer miss out on the beauty of life that is in a constant state of sharing its gifts with you. The trees bloom beautiful buds of life and you notice. The wind gently clams your skin and you smile with awareness. The sun showers you in a warm, glowing light and you fill up with gratitude. The air provides the space for beautiful sounds to travel; birds singing, leaves blowing and you join into the awareness that everything is a blessing to be received and enjoyed in the moment your are experiencing it. It is when you wake up and look with a calm heart and mind into the simplicity of this now moment that you find the golden gifts that you would have missed out on if you were rushing along the path, trying to get somewhere other then here now.

To be mindful and slow down is to align with your creative source. It is in this union with your creative source that you will be informed and graced with exactly what you need to do in each moment that arrives perfectly on time. Slow down and enjoy the flow.

I invite you to go on a walk of awareness today and spend a few moments completely aware of all that is being given to you on this walk without your having to try or push ahead. I notice that when I stop and listen there is an abundance of gifts waiting to be shared with me- including the answers to the tough problems in my life. Slow down and make each moment last today and always.
